WITH NO APOLOGIES TO CAPTAIN KIRK OR SUPERMANIn our story about Heaven we represented people as having the ability to fly, and to move without effort anywhere, without having to travel between places. We also illustrated the ability they had to bring food or objects to themselves without any effort. On top of all that, we introduced travel between worlds, and time travel as a normal occurrence of their existence on the New Earth. The people we wrote about were indestructible, where neither the vacuum of space, nor the depth of the sea could harm them. The reason these ideas are in the story, stems from Jesus Himself. Both before and after His resurrection, He seemed to have these abilities, didn't he? Look at the following passages: Flying —Ephesians 4:10 Transporting —John 20:26 Replicating food —John 21:9, Mark 8:19 Time travel —Revelation 1:8 Indestructibility —Isaiah 66:25, Luke 24:6 Therefore, since we will be like Him one day, it was only logical to appropriate these abilities for the characters in our story about Heaven. (I John 3:2) What do you think? Will we really have all of these abilities? In the 20th century, once again man was introduced to these ideas, but this time without God being involved. Science fiction, the Trek movies, and others, point out that eventually humankind will develop all of these talents for themselves. God will no longer be needed. Humans will make themselves better, and create for themselves a better future: No more war, poverty, hunger, crime, etc. Where did these ideas come from? Did man invent them for his own future? Did the dark Prince of this world give them to man, so to steal some thunder from what God has prepared for us in the New Earth? Are they a logical progression of Man? Many people believe we will make ourselves better. It has not happened yet, because in spite of our technical advances, poverty, crime, and war are more with us than ever. The Twentieth Century, inspite of being full of the most astounding technological and scientific advances, saw more people die of war, poverty and hunger than any other century. Everything is worse, despite all of our efforts to help. So I ask, will man pull himself up by his bootstraps? God says otherwise about man's immediate future, having planned a much better one for those He loves. (Revelation 18, and 20-22) Therefore, we offer no apologies to Trekkers , comic book readers, Captain Kirk, and Superman, because the Lord thought of all of your ideas first. In fact it was eons before you and I came along. (I Corinthians 2:9, Ephesians 1:4) I believe that the reality that God will quickly bring, at the appearance of Jesus, will be wilder, more wonderful, more awesome than anything fallen mankind could have ever imagined. roger@borngraphics.com THE VERY BEST WRITING |
